Non-Discrimination Policy

Friends Investing in Foster Kids is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit serving the needs of children in the Child Protection and Permanency Court in Dallas County. Friends Investing in Foster Kids (FIFK) is committed to fostering a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive environment for everyone we serve and everyone who serves alongside us. This Non-Discrimination Policy reflects our values and our mission to support youth in foster care and the caregivers and families who care for them. We believe every person deserves dignity, fairness, and access to opportunity. Discrimination is inconsistent with our purpose and will not be tolerated within our organization, programs, communications, partnerships, or community engagement.

FIFK does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, ethnicity, national origin, ancestry, religion, creed, sex, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, genetic information, marital status, veteran or military status, citizenship, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local law. This policy applies to all FIFK activities and operations, including our programs, events, volunteer engagement, mentorship initiatives, fundraising activities, and partnerships. We are committed to ensuring that our services and opportunities are delivered in a manner that is equitable, consistent, and grounded in respect.

Non-Discrimination in Our Commitment

To put this policy into action, FIFK maintains the following commitments:

  1. Equal Access to Services: We strive to ensure that eligible youth, caregivers, and families have fair access to FIFK resources, support, and programs without discrimination or bias.
  2. Inclusive Volunteer & Mentorship Participation: Volunteer and mentor opportunities are open to qualified individuals without discrimination. We aim to match youth with support that is safe, appropriate, and aligned with program needs.
  3. Respectful Community Standards: We expect board members, volunteers, staff, partners, and supporters to treat others with respect and to communicate in ways that uphold a welcoming environment.
  4. Fair Decision-Making: Decisions related to participation, support distribution, or involvement are guided by program goals, youth needs, eligibility requirements, and safety considerations—not by personal characteristics or assumptions.
  5. Reasonable Accommodations: When requested and feasible, we work to provide reasonable accommodations to support participation for individuals with disabilities, consistent with our mission and resources.
  6. Zero Tolerance for Harassment: Harassment, intimidation, or discriminatory conduct—whether in person, online, or through any form of communication—may result in removal from programs, events, volunteer roles, or partnerships.
  7. Ongoing Improvement: We continuously seek feedback and look for ways to improve our policies, training, and practices so that our organization reflects the community we serve and the values we stand for.

Questions, Feedback & Requests

We strive to continuously improve our practices and uphold a respectful, inclusive environment. If you have questions about this policy, would like to request an accommodation, or would like to share feedback related to your experience with FIFK, please contact us. We will review inquiries promptly and address them in a fair and considerate manner, consistent with our mission and values, and we appreciate your help in strengthening our community.

Our Purpose

At the heart of this policy is our belief that every young person deserves to feel supported, safe, and included. Youth in foster care often face disruption and uncertainty. FIFK exists to help restore stability and opportunity through education support, “normalcy” experiences, therapeutic resources, and community-based care. A non-discriminatory environment is essential to building trust and ensuring that our support is delivered with compassion and integrity.

By participating in FIFK—whether as a youth, caregiver, volunteer, mentor, donor, or community partner—you help strengthen a culture that values fairness, respect, and belonging. We are grateful for your support and remain committed to serving our community in a manner that honors the dignity of every person.
